Tekstilaboratorio

Tekstilaboratorio on Tekstin talon kansainvälinen ryhmäresidenssiprojekti kirjailijoille ja muille tekstin parissa työskenteleville taiteilijoille. Projektin ideana on kokeilla ja etsiä uusia tapoja tuoda tekstikulttuuria yleisön koettavaksi.

Alfred Kordelinin Säätiön rahoittama hanke koostuu kolmesta ryhmäresidenssistä (talvi 2024–25, kesä 2025, talvi 2025–26), joihin järjestetään avoin haku. Jokaiseen residenssijaksoon otetaan mukaan kahdeksan taiteilijaa, jotka ovat kiinnostuneita ajattelemaan tekstin ja tekstikulttuurin mahdollisuuksia laajemmin. Ryhmät kootaan monitaiteisesti ja heidän tukenaan on kaksi fasilitaattoria. Residenssit huipentuvat Tekstifestivaaliin tai Runokuu-festivaaliin, joissa laboratoriolaiset esittelevät löydöksiään demojen ja muiden ulostulojen muodossa. Projektin työskentelykieli on englanti, mutta jokainen osallistuja voi työstää omaa tekstiään/teostaan haluamallaan kielellä. 

The House of Text (Tekstin Talo) in Helsinki, Finland has established the Text Laboratory: a working residency program for writers and other artists working with text funded by the Alfred Kordelin foundation. The aim of the project is to test and find new ways to bring works of text culture to audiences, potentially broadening the definition of what text culture can mean.

Each iteration of the project welcomes a group of eight artists who are interested in thinking about the possibilities of text culture. The groups are made up of many different disciplines, including poetry, playwriting, sound installation, fine art, film, bookbinding, and more. Together they will explore the possibilities of working with text at a wider level, share their thinking and practices and work together with other project participants and the project facilitators. The working language of the project is English, but each participant may operate their own texts / art works in the language of one’s choosing.

Ensimmäinen residenssijakso oli 9.12.24–27.1.25. Ensimmäisen laboratorion lopputulokset esitettiin osana Tekstifestivaalia 23.-26.1.2025 Tekstin Talossa.

Toinen residenssijakso oli 14.7.–24.8.25. Jakson lopputulokset esitettiin osana Runokuun ohjelmistoa 20.8.25 Tekstin talossa.

Kolmas ja viimeinen residenssijakso järjestetään 29.12.2025 – 1.2.2026. Laboratorion tulokset esitetään osana Tekstifestivaalia 2026 Tekstin talossa.

The first residency period occured 9.12.24 - 27.1.25.The outcome(s) of the first laboratory were presented as part of the Text Festival on 23-26.1.2025 at the House of Text.

The second Text Laboratory took place from 14 July to 24 August 2025. The results of this residency were presented as part of the Runokuu Literary Festival on 20 August 2025.

The third and last residency occurs from 29 December 2025 to 1 February 2026. The outcomes of this residency will be presented as part of the Text Festival 2026 at the House of Text.

Heinäkuussa Tekstin talossa pilotoitiin Tekstilaboratorio-hanketta. Tekstikulttuuria edistävässä hankkeessa Tekstin talo tarjoaa tiloja tekijöiden käyttöön työskentely- ja harjoittelutilaksi kolmessa monitaiteisessa tekstiresidenssissä. Pilottijakson aikana haettiin rajoja tuleville residensseille ja kokeiltiin Tekstin talon tiloja residenssinäkökulmasta.

In July, the Text Laboratory project was piloted at the House of Text. In a project promoting text culture, the House of Text offers spaces for authors to work and practice in three multidisciplinary text residencies. During the pilot period, boundaries were sought for future residencies and the spaces of the House of Text were tested from a residency perspective.
